RST was founded in Derbyshire, England, in 1988 by Jonny Towers, who is committed to producing a range of high-quality motorcycle riding gear, motorcycle boots, and motorcycle protective gear. It started out initially under the name 'Rhino Sports Technology' for a number of years before evolving into RST in 2001. They believe that trust is a major part of building brand loyalty, and they have worked long hours to ensure that their entire range is CE certified, plus working on partnerships with companies like In&Motion that bring integrated Airbag technology to their products for additional safety.

Over the years, RST has climbed the ladder in the racing community and has achieved championship wins at English and world Superbike racing series. In 2003, RST was a part of winning their first British Supersport Championship, followed by winning the world Superbike championship in 2008. Another massive achievement was achieved in 2015 when RST became an official safety partner of the historically famous event, The Isle Of Man TT.
