In 1997, the Draggin founder, Grant Mackintosh created the world's first pair of protective motorcycle riding jeans. This was a revolution in the motorcycle riding gear and motorcycle accessories space, as up until then, since the first motorcycle was created in 1885, road motorcycle protective gear was predominantly made out of one material - leather.

Grant set out to engineer and manufacture motorcycle riding pants that had the look and feel of a casual set of denim jeans, but with the advanced protection that comes with something more sturdy like leather. He worked extensively using accepted CE 13595 standard testing methods to quantify the level of safety his products offered the rider. He found that the jeans with RooMoto MR7+ last over 7.46 seconds, equating to over 75 metres in slide time, which is further than an Olympic-size swimming pool!

Over the years of building and developing the brand, Grant also took to wearing the products for his own riding routines. He ended up putting them to the test one day when he hit the asphalt at Calder Raceway and managed to walk away from the accident in one piece, proving that Draggin jeans lived up to what they are made out to be.
